How Chat to Notion works
A quick walkthrough of everything from sign-up to your first save. Takes about 5 minutes end to end.

Create your account
Head to the sign-up page and create an account with email + password or Google. This is your Chat to Notion account — separate from your Notion and your ChatGPT/Claude accounts.

Connect your Notion workspace
On the dashboard, click Connect Notion. Notion opens a permission screen where you pick which page you want to grant access to — this is the page your saves database will live under. Choose an existing page or make a new one first in Notion (e.g. 'AI Saves').
Tip: Pick a top-level page you're happy sharing. You can move the database later inside Notion. - 3
Create your saves database
Back on the dashboard, click Create database. We build a Notion database called 'AI Chat Saves' inside the page you chose, with fields for Title, Summary, Tags, Category, Source, and Original prompt.
Tip: Only need to do this once. If you delete the database, come back here and click again. - 4
Add the connector to ChatGPT or Claude
Copy the MCP URL from your dashboard. In ChatGPT, go to Settings → Connectors → Add. In Claude, go to Settings → Connectors → Add custom. Paste the URL. You'll be asked to sign in — use the same Chat to Notion account.
Tip: The MCP URL only works after this app is published to a real domain. Your dashboard shows a warning if you haven't published yet. - 5
Save your first chat
Inside ChatGPT or Claude, ask a great question or work through a problem. When you have a reply worth keeping, say 'save this to Notion' or 'save this conversation to Notion'. The connector calls back to Chat to Notion, we auto-title and summarize it, and it lands in your Notion database seconds later.
Tip: You can also ask 'search my saves' or 'show my recent saves' from inside ChatGPT/Claude.
